Nokia N78: Camera sample’s
The Nokia N78 is more than a midtier-device by Nokia. It’s a successor of the very popular N73 and it also features a 3.2 Megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss Optics and a LED-flash. A few weeks ago I received a trial N78 and now I want to share some camera-shots taken with the N78 with you.
If you want to show the following image-sample’s in full resolution, just click on them:
Conclusion
The N78’s camera is a very good for taking pictures which don’t need to be perfect. Nevertheless there is too much noise in some of the pictures. The flash is just a LED-flash but it’s very bright and good for taking pictures also in bad light conditions. If you want a good mid-class camera you can take the N78 without bad thoughts, I’m sure that the camera-performance will be updated in the upcoming next firmwares.

Hi Ravindra,
The ear volume during a call will be low if the screen-protector covers the small opening at the top-middle of the phone. I had this problem. I had to cut the portion of the screen protector near the ear audio speaker.
Hey Christian – Is the camera of N82 much superior to that of N78 even in a well lit condition (without flash)?
The camera of the N82 is the best in Nokia mobile phones. The camera of the N78 is also very good, but the N82 does his job better (remember that the N78 is a device which is more orientated for the mass market – the N82 is a camera-device).
Hi Christian, thanks a lot for your reply. I bought a N78 and I am really impressed with its camera’s quality. The photos taken are good and well balanced in terms of color, brightness and sharpness. The LED flash also works well in low lit conditions. One of my friend is planning to buy a N series camera phone. He is confused between N78 and N82. It would be great if you give a comparison between the photos taken with N78 and N82 (in a well lit condition). Moreover, I just read in one of the forums that the difference between a 3.2 MP camera and 5 MP camera is only noticeable if the photos are enlarged…else they are almost similar. What do you think about this?
Of course you only can notice the difference in full resolution. But the main difference, which you also can see in lower resolutions, are the better colors in the images made by the N82. Unfortunately I can’t make a comparision between the N78 and N82, because I don’t have the opportunity to get my hands on a N82 at the moment.
Thanks for the reply
Hey Christian, any idea what new the latest firmware version 12.046 of N78 has?
Hi Rohit,

Thanks Christian, I got the info.
Hi Christian, is there any option to change the display font color in N78? Its always white.
As far as I know there is no option to change the font color.
What a cool phone, but i have to say, all symbian nokia phones start to be slower and slower after some time…
Hello.
Please understand the N82 is a 5mp camera phone as now the standard is 5 MP as the higher the MP the more infomation can be stored on the phone when taking a picture .
Nokia have lost the race though when it comes to camera phones as they have no included smile and face detection as many others have done…the best Nokia for taking pictures to date is the Nokia N8 and it has a real flash not a silly cheap LED .
I currently use a samsung Pixon due to the camera proformance and massive megapixel to hand.
All nokia symbian phones suffer from the same thing….SLOW and reboot themselves for no real reason….go for a smart phone that runs windows as you will spen most of your time self signing apps for the symbian 9xxx …smile..
By the way…I managed to buy a nokia N97 for just under £180 but gave it to my wife to use….very bad phone poor quality build and slow after a few apps placed on its memory card….cheap and nasty
oh man, i think the n78 camera captures amazing detail, especially in daylight!
hi
my mobile N78 main camera not working properly pl give me solution’s.
camera phones are very convenient coz they can take picture and calls at the same time-.~
Nokia what have you done ? the N8 is a bad phone the new OS symbian 3^ is very bad indeed my new phone keeps rebooting or freezing.
Dumped the N8 and went for a Samsung Galaxy s with its android based OS and the apps are far the best and Nokia OVI store is but a joke.
The N8 has a nice camera at 12mp but it is of little use as when you take a photo the dam thing freezes and even after the update.
If nokia bring out a decent phone it will be only when they dump the Symbian system after all you can only go so fast with an OS that is out of date and very slow…it will i think be remembered along with the VIC 20 computer……
